The Accommodation
A traditional Cretan house, lovingly restored
The House
Villa Spiti Athinà has been lovingly restored from a traditional village house to a characterful villa with a large private pool. The original natural stone walls are still visible and give the villa its authentic character. The 50cm thick walls keep the interior pleasantly cool in summer.
The restoration preserved the original character: the dome of the old bread oven became the ground-floor bedroom, the stone walls were painstakingly repaired, and traditional Cretan shepherd's crooks now serve as towel rails. Every detail tells the story of the village.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Ground floor
Bedroom — Double bed tucked beneath a characterful domed ceiling, once the village bread oven. The thick stone walls keep the room naturally cool. Air conditioning and mosquito net.
Bathroom — Mediterranean style with blue and white mosaic tiles, spacious walk-in shower and modern fittings.
First floor
Master bedroom — Spacious and bright, with double bed, wooden floors and a balcony overlooking the village and mountains. Air conditioning and mosquito nets.
Bedroom — Two single beds (90×210 cm) that can be joined into a double. Wooden floors, balcony with mountain views. Air conditioning and mosquito nets.
Bathroom — Generous, with typical Cretan design elements. Bath and beach towels are included.
Pool & Terrace
Step onto the sun-dappled terrace, where ancient vines weave a natural canopy of shade overhead. The 6x10m pool is 1.40 to 2.10 m deep and stays a pleasant 22–28 °C from May to October thanks to the Cretan sun. The garden is alive with fragrant citrus trees and a centuries-old olive tree — a peaceful haven for lazy afternoons.
