The House of Athina
'Spiti Athinà' is a traditional Cretan village house, lovingly restored into a characterful retreat. The thick, ancient stone walls give the house its authentic charm and keep the interior pleasantly cool. Under the shaded terrace, where the vine grows overhead, you look out over the pool, the garden with olive and citrus trees, and the hills with olive groves towards the White Mountains.
The house was carefully restored, preserving its original character: the dome of the old bread oven became the ground-floor bedroom, the stone walls — some 50 cm thick — were painstakingly repaired, and traditional Cretan shepherd's crooks now serve as towel rails. Every detail tells the story of the village.
